Immigration Police crack Human Trafficking Operation.

In the early hours of Thursday Morning we joined a group of Undercover Immigration Police Officers as they conducted a covert operation at the PTT Petrol Station in Lompok sub-district in Banglamung. The Officers had been tracking a group of well-organized people traffickers for some time and the operation used an operative who handed over 12,500 Baht in marked bank notes to “purchase” 5 Cambodian Workers who had entered the Kingdom illegally. The main agent, a Thai National, known only as “Biaw”, was the main target of the operation; however Immigration Officers were only able to arrest three of his drivers following the exchange of money. Khun Atit aged 19, Khun Apinan aged 25 and Khun Nakorn aged 24 were taken back to the Immigration Office for further investigations. They will be charged with human trafficking offences over the coming days. Attempts to entrap the main agent were unsuccessful despite assistance from the three arrestees. The 5 Cambodians caught up in the operation will be deported in due course.
Later on Thursday Morning a press conference was held announcing the arrest of the three traffickers and a further 4 illegal Cambodians connected with the case were also caught on Thursday following further questioning of the three arrestees.
