Tourists baffled as Walking Street Sign remains unfinished, 5 months after the old sign was taken away. |

A few months ago, we reported on the new Walking Street sign which is set to feature a huge LCD Screen. The famous Walking Street sign featured in travel brochures around the world was torn down just before Christmas last year just as Pattaya was experiencing the High Season. At this time complaints from many Tourists were received by the Tourist Police based on Walking Street and many emails were sent to news organizations based in Pattaya, including us. They were baffled as to why the sign was taken down at such an important time of the year. Some time later, a steel construction was erected and everyone assumed that the new Walking Street Sign would appear shortly. We can report that it is now nearly 5 months since the old sign was taken down. The new steel construction has been up for three months and no further work to complete the sign has taken place since then. We are concerned why the sign is not finished and looks as if it will not be finished for some time. Maybe the company awarded the contract to construct the sign has run out of money or there is a delay in constructing the special LCD Screen which will feature on the sign. We have today sent the audio and pictures relating to this story to the Mayors Office at Pattaya City Hall for his consideration. |
