On Wednesday Morning at the Tourist Police Station, a press conference was held to announce three cases dealt with by local Tourist Police in cooperation with Crime Suppression Police from Bangkok. Police Major General Surasit, the Commander of the Crime Suppression Bureau, Police Major General Panya, Deputy Commander of the Crime Suppression Bureau and Police Major General Choochart, Commander of the Tourist Police were present and gave details of the three cases. The first case involved the arrest of a German National accused of having sex with minors. The second case presented Mr. John Alexander Winston aged 37 from England. He was arrested on Tuesday in possession of an expired passport and visa. Mr. Winston had been released from the Nong Pla Lai Remand Prison in 2007 following a case involving threats to bomb Tesco-Lotus branches in Thailand. He will now be deported back to the UK at the earliest opportunity. The Third case detailed a raid by Tourist Police which took place in the early hours of Wednesday Morning of a number of Internet Shops in Soi Beokeow which revealed they were illegally permitting minors under the age of 18 into the shops beyond 10pm to play games and use the internet. More than 10 Internet Shops are now facing legal action. |
